POSITION AVAILABLE: CIVIC COMMONS

Program Directors

 

Project Directors will lead and execute a variety of civic engagement, citizen journalism, and social media projects with direction from the leadership team. You will work as part of a team to creatively implement Civic Commons projects with a variety of community partners, including educational institutions, community organizations, and media outlets, along with others you identify and recruit. Project Directors will also manage the production and editing of Civic Commons content produced by volunteers and manage the syndication and aggregation of content from other organizations.

Summit Education Initiative (SEI), founded in 1997 in Akron, Ohio, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving education for all children, preschool through college in Summit County.

UNIVERSITY PARK ALLIANCE

Art Fair

August 14, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

 

University Park Art Fair at Grace Park, a project of the University Park Alliance, is a one-day fine art and fine craft event showcasing the work of regional artists and the unique atmosphere of Grace Park and the University Park district.  This is the third annual arts and culture event. The mission of the University Park Alliance is to revitalize and transform the diverse University Park neighborhood.

CASA/GAL

Board Members

 

The CASA mission is to provide every child who enters the court system as a result of allegations of abuse, neglect or dependency with a trained community volunteer to advocate for what is in the child's "best interest." In 2008 the Summit County program served 1,300 children. The CASA/GAL Board is looking for a few inspired, committed Board members to serve two-year terms helping to support the recruitment, training and retention of new CASA/GAL mentors, as well as raise funds for the training staff. The Board has just been through a Center for Nonprofit Excellence strategic planning process and is asking board members to re-commit to the mission. Cascade Locks

Advisory Council Members

Cascade Locks Park Association is currently organizing an Advisory Council. The council would meet twice a year, and would be used for the purpose of using the expertise of those on the council for advice throughout the year.  They would also like the council members to help us scout for new board members from the Akron community.
