Idea Exchange for Entrepreneurs

The prospect of coming up with a new business idea is one thing, but advancing that idea from concept to completion is another story. Fortunately, help is available for those individuals with a great idea but unsure of its viability and/or how to proceed. It’s called the Entrepreneurs' Idea Exchange.

The inaugural meeting for the Entrepreneur’s Idea Exchange will be held on Tuesday, March 16, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the University of Akron, College of Business Administration concourse – 259 S. Broadway, across from St. Bernard’s Church.  The $15 entrance fee will include a parking pass, light food and soft drinks. For more information, visit the Web site at http://www.ohioideaexchange.com or call (330) 972-6445.

“The purpose of this organization is to help people with ideas at any stage of development to move forward by providing a venue to not only propose their concepts, but also solicit fair – and honest – feedback from peers and seasoned entrepreneurs,” explained Corrine Beller, organizer of the Entrepreneur’s Idea Exchange and Director of Outreach for The University of Akron College of Business Administration. “What better platform to test the viability of people’s ideas and take them to the next level while helping to create jobs and economic development for our area?”

March of Dimes

More than half a million babies are born preterm every year in the United States (Nationally this is 1 in 8 babies).  In Ohio, the rate of preterm births increased 16% between 1995 and 2005, raising the number to over 19,000 babies each year (In Ohio that is 1 in 5 babies).

For many, premature birth causes death or life-long disability.  It often devastates parents and ultimately costs billions of dollars a year which is a major factor in raising health care costs that impact all of us.

Here are some of the different ways you can help…

1. Join or chair a volunteer committee for one of our two fundraising events; March for Babies (May 2010) or  Signature Chefs Event (October 2010)?

2. Help form a March Team at the Akron March for Babies event, Saturday, May 8th (www.marchforbabies.org)

3. Help the March of Dimes by opening doors  to new companies/business leaders in the Greater Akron Community (help us network)?

4. Sponsor one of our premiere events at one of our various levels?
