Awards/Recognitions/Promotions

Dr. Rick Flaksman ’88 recently received his MBA from The University of Massachusetts.  In addition he was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi (Scholastic) and Beta Gamma Sigma (Business) honorary societies.  Rick is the Medical Director of Neonatology at Marion (OH) General Hospital.

Gregg Mervis ’02 has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer at Akron/Summit Convention & Vistors Bureau.

Katerina Papas ’04 is now Deputy Executive Director for Summit County Children Services.

Katie Rennard (Leadership Catoosa ’01) has been promoted to Senior Vice President Resource Development at United Way of Summit County.

Main Street Gourmet (Steve Marks ’93) recently received the Shatten Civic Distinction Award at the Leading EDGE Awards ceremony on May 20, 2009 at Kent State University.  The Shatten Award is presented each year to an exception company that goes well beyond the norm in giving back and supporting the Northeast Ohio community.
